Anthony "Fish" Mercer was born September 26, 1954 to Alton and Theresa Mercer in East Chicago, Indiana. Anthony departed this life on Friday, September 9, 2016 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Anthony graduated from Hammond High School and later moved to Fort Wayne. He was a manager on a Salvation Army's store, where he was called "Tony". Later he became an employee of the Allen County Library until his retirement.
"Fish" was he was called by many, loved to cook. There was nothing that he would not do for his family. He never met a stranger, had a way with people that would not let them forget him. He would keep you laughing. There was not a subject or topic that he could not engage in with you.
Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Brenda K. Mercer and two brothers, Ronald and Edward E. Mercer.
His legacy continues through his daughters, Tiana Davis and Tina Minniefield both of East Chicago, Indiana; a son, Antonia Davis of Michigan City, Indiana; a grandson, Carlos Hardy; a granddaughter, Alyhse Johnson; five sisters, Dorothy (Jeff) Naves, Beatrice (Terry) Bryant of Gary, Indiana, Shirley J. Randolph of Portage, Indiana, Deborah (James) Mercer of Palmetto, Georgia and Marsha (Eugene) Mercer of College Park, Georgia; two brothers, Alton Mercer of Euclid, Ohio and Darry M. Mercer of Hammond, Indiana; special friend, Debra Davis; two aunts, Mary L. Jones and Carrie Findley along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
