BESSIE MABLE STEPHANS

January 11, 1926 ~ November 26, 2016 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Bessie Mable Stephans was born January 11, 1926 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  She was the daughter of Orah Lee and Bertha (Dickey) Presley. She passed peaceful away on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Parkview Hospital - Randallia.

 Ms. Bessie confessed her faith in Christ and was baptized early in life. She was a active member of Shepherd of the City Lutheran Church for many years. In the mid-1940's, she graduated from Central High School. She received an Associate Degree in Social Work from Indiana Institute of Technology.

 She worked for Catholic Social Services as a counselor for many years and enjoyed just helping people.  She was a unique woman who didn't mind giving advice and had a heart of gold.

 At a young age, she crafted a gift of pressing hair.  She was beautician with a love and passion for doing hair.  For over 70 years she did “Press & Curls”.   She was well known for her "Aunt Bessie Curls" that would last until the next shampoo.

Ms. Bessie was preceded in death by parents, husband, Robert W. Stephans Sr.; sons, Bartholomew Stephans and Robert W. Stephans Jr., six brothers, Walter, John, Theopolis, David, Alfred and Douglas W. Presley; a special brother, Edward Blanks; three sisters, Ora Mae Collins, Alma Lewis and Velma Jackson and Wilbert Peters Sr.

 Left to carry on her legacy include her sons, Ronald, Roger, Bruce (Leola), Kermit (Sherry) Stephans and Wilbert Peters Jr.; daughters, Joyce Trigg, Robbie (Ronald) Mayes, Ozia Clancy, Sharon, Bertha and Julia Stephans and Norine White; brothers, Orah Presley Jr. and Benjamin Presley; special brother, Bobby Blanks; sister-in-law, Evelyn Presley; special grandchildren, Tamiko Hall and Riakois McKinley and a host of other beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 She will be laid to rest in Lindenwood Cemetery
