Hubert Morrison was born on May 19, 1924 to Wilfred Beckford and Hilda Morrison.  Born in Mount Cary, St. James, Jamaica, Hubert was the last of three children.  He was very close to his family and older sisters, Ruthlyn Fenton and Lily May Beckford.  The three siblings grew up as one in a loving home, where family values were an emphasis. They later moved from Mount Cary to Montego Bay (Bogue Hill). Hubert loved his native home, Jamaica, and shared many stories of growing up there and what it was like to migrate from the island to the US.

Hubert, affectionately known as Uncle Gee, migrated from Jamaica in his late teens/early twenties, with hopes of making a better life for his family and himself.  Leaving Jamaica and migrating to the United States, he came to the state of Indiana in order to do farm work.  Hubert faced many challenges, including racism and segregation, but his strength and perseverance remained his foundation.  He overcame these and many other obstacles and was able to assist his family back home in Jamaica.  While assisting his family, he was also able to start building the structure for his own life in the U.S., by residing in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  He finished the work as a farm laborer and later gained employment at Jocelyn Steel, where he worked for over 40 years before retiring.

Hubert married the love of his life, Verdell Morrison (Wright) and was married for 50 years.

Uncle Gee loved music, playing dominoes, traveling to visit family and friends in Jamaica and traveling with his wife around the United States.  He was very caring and very giving to family and friends and enjoyed being in the presence of family and friends. His generosity helped countless individuals and he will never be forgotten.

He will be laid to rest in Covington Memorial Gardens
