Joseph H Thomas, Sr.

June 15, 1939 ~ August 19, 2016 (age 77) 77 Years Old

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be anymore pain for the former things are passed away. Revelations 21:4

Joseph “Joe” Herman Thomas Sr. was born June 15, 1939 in Mount Sterling, Kentucky, to the union of Samuel and Auldine (Razor) Thomas.

He moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana where he met and married Mary Ann Blevins on March 13, 1975 and to this union two children were born.  While working for Labretto Brothers Construction Company out of Cincinnati, Ohio,  he relocated to Fort Wayne, Indiana.  He later worked construction and was a member of Local 213 until his retirement in 1985.

Joe accepted Christ early in his life as a statement of his faith.  He was baptized in the cooling waters of a running creek in Mount Sterling, Kentucky.  He later attended Good Hope Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, under the former leadership of Rev. James E. Mosley.

On Friday, August 19, 2016, he passed away at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne at the age of 77.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and caring wife, Mary Ann Thomas; two children born to the union, Joseph H. (Charniece) Thomas Jr. and Aletha Auldine (Ricardo) Douglas; a special granddaughter, Quatesha Woods, who stood by his side through his difficult times; a special grandson, Dayshawn Thomas Douglas; two brothers, Richard Thomas and Billy Thomas of Mount Sterling; two sisters, Grace Auldina Dixon of Georgia and Effie (Henry) Thomas of Cincinnati, Ohio; a very special mother-in-law, Classie Blevins; five additional loving grandchildren, Joseph H. Thomas III Golden, Johanna Thomas, Darius Thomas, Miyah Thomas and Aaliyah Thomas; four great-grandchildren, four sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Auldine Thomas; four brothers, Thomas, Patrick, James and Alfred and two sisters, Francis Wilson and Patricia Harris.

Joe will be laid to rest in Concordia Gardens Cemetery
