Leroy Johnson was born December 29, 1931 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  He was the son of Leroy and Hattie Johnson.

At the age of 84, he passed away peacefully in the presence of his wife and daughter at home on Saturday, November 12, 2016.

He moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana in the 1940’s.  He was baptized at an early age at Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. John Dixie.

Leroy retired from Phelps Dodge and later worked for CANI. He was a self-made handyman and was well known for helping people.

Left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 65 years, Delois Johnson; sons,  Eugene Johnson and Ernie (Barbara) Johnson; devoted daughter, Darlene Johnson; sister-in-law, Florence Johnson, eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Bobby Johnson and Willie “Dickie” Johnson and sister, Fairy Mae Hardy.

Mr. Johnson will be laid to rest in Lindenwood Cemetery
