Lawrence McGill Obituary

Lawrence L. McGill was known to family and friends as “Larry” a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and god-father, passed away suddenly on April 1, 2018 at the age of 52 years old, at the Parkview Regional Medical Center.  Larry was born on November 16th 1965 in Denison, Texas. He was the son of Vanzilla King-Potts and James Ira McGill.

At an early age while living in Texas Larry was confirmed into the Catholic Faith at St. Patrick’s Cathedral by Father Vogoul.  Larry attended Colbert High School in Colbert, Oklahoma.    Larry later at the age of 18 began his life long journey to a great career. He began semi-truck driving school later working for Schneider Trucking Company.  

Larry enjoyed and spent most of his life in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  Putting his career as a professional semi-truck driver to use for over 34 years, providing outstanding appreciated service and leaving a mark on each and every company he visited.

Larry enjoyed most riding his motorcycle in the breeze and barbecuing on beautiful sunny days, working hard to provide for his family and putting smiles on his loved ones faces.  Larry had a heart of gold and would literally give you the shirt off his back, he may fuss about it while doing it but it would be done and a hand that has given to many In need!  He will truly be missed and will always be remembered!!

Larry’s memories will forever be cherished by his fiancé, Tonia Anthony; his children, Cassidi Anderson, Tamera Anthony, Markaee Billingsley, Shania Anthony and Kimora Williams; a sister, Brandy (Steve) Speers; his brothers, John (Anna) Lowrey, James (Wanda) McGill and Joseph (Eva) McGill; and his precious grandchildren, Jacob, Destin, Mary Jane, LaMya and MáLeah; his god-daughter, Kyla Polston along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Vanzilla King-Potts and James Ira McGill; sisters, Doris Lowrey, Jean Burkes; a brother, Timothy Leonard Lowrey; maternal grandparents; Joseph and Viola King; paternal grandparents, Adam and Augistine McGill; 32 aunts and uncles.
