Marvin W. Senter was born to the late Edward W. and the late Margaret K. Senter, on September 10, 1940 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He departed this life at Genesis Healthcare in New Haven, Indiana on Oct. 1,2016.
Marvin accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized at Union Baptist Church. Marvin was a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served as an Air Policeman. Marvin worked for both General Motors and the City of Wayne for a combined 17 years.
In the early 1970's Marvin moved to Columbus, Ohio where he worked for Martin Marietta as an equipment operator for over 23 years and retired in 2001.
Marvin loved reading, basketball, bowling, listening to jazz, nice cars, especially Corvettes and drawing. His love for drawing led him to attend the The Fort Wayne Art Institute; and later, he became a free lance cartoonist for Frost Illustrated of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Marvin also drew poster illustrations and slogans for Buick Motors Division of Flint, Michigan. Most of all, Marvin loved his family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Brenda Senter of Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, Valarie Wims of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Kendra Lesley of Columbus, Ohio; brothers, Edward III (Mona) Senter of Fort Wayne and Kevin of Tampa, Florida; sisters, Laverne Nance of Huntsville, Alabama, Emily Hardware, Brenda Gaither, Carol (Greg) Marshall of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren, Antoine Wims, Alicia Wims, Kayron Lesley, Daion Lesley, Dayron Lesley and Kendrick Lesley; two great grandchildren, Karina Wims and Ace Wims; he was a loving father to Rory Lesley, along with a host of other loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Marvin was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret K. Senter on December 1, 1992 and father Edward W. Senter Jr. on Novemeber 2, 2011.
Marvin will be laid to rest in Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana
