Robert L. Stewart was born on June 11, 1938 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the late Parker Stewart and the late Beatrice (Brown) Stewart. He departed this life on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the age of 79.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was truly a child of the King. He was a faithful and devoted member of True Love Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Robert Bell.
Robert was also preceded in death by a son, Michael D. Stewart; three daughters, Rosalind Stewart, Danielle Hinton and Debbie Parker; his sisters, Hattie Prewitt, Bernice Simpson, Maggie Russell and Helen Chapman; brothers, Cleveland Stewart, Harvey Stewart, Alphonso Stewart, Elder Johnny Stewart, Hozie Stewart, Henry Stewart and Parker P. Stewart; brothers-in-law, Eddie Simpson and Charles Chapman; sister-in-law, Sarah Stewart and a grandson, Antonio Stewart.
Left to cherish many fond and loving memories are his loving and devoted wife, Mattie Stewart; children, Robert Earl (Joann) Stewart and Parker Lee Stewart, Keith (Lashunda) Hinton and Lisa (Tony) Hughes, sisters, Sarah (Charlie) Hagler, Edgie (Alex) Adams all of Fort Wayne and Elnora Cook of Gary, Indiana; a brother, Lorenzo (Cindy) Stewart of Michigan City, Indiana; brother and sister-in-law, Charlie Russell and Ann Stewart, 15 grandchildren 31 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
