Brother Sammie D. Burns was born October 14, 1943 in Doddsville, MS and departed this life on March 22, 2017 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Sammie D has traveled many places all around the United States but made Fort Wayne his home around 1985, which he stayed until his death.

Sammie D was preceded in death by his father,  Jimmy Burns,  mother, Ardee Blevins. He was also preceded in death by his younger brother, Elder Jimmy Wright and the mother of his children Magnolia Cannon and Pamela Holman.

He leaves to cherish his memories eight children, Sammie D. Burns Jr. (Bambi), Teresa D. Burns, Jimmie E. Burns, Kareem A. Cannon (Sonya), Latrice Holman, Javon Holman, Marcus Holman, and Jazmine Holman; three brothers, Jessie Wright, Solomon Wright III, Horace Lee; five sisters, Birdie McIntosh (Willie), Bonnie Gaulden, Abigal Parker, Abbie Amos, Tynita Lee all of Fort Wayne, and sister-in-law, Annie Jones of Tupelo, Mississippi. He also leaves one loving aunt Inez Amos Mayo, 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He will be remembered by a host of love ones abroad to include cousins, a host of nieces, nephews, close friend Earl Folks and many other dear friends.

Sleep on Sammie D and take your rest you don’t have to hurt anymore. We love you but God loved you best!
