William Glenn Smith was born August 14, 1973 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Thelma Novella Smith and James Crawford.  He departed this life on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Parkview Regional Medical Center with family at his side.

He was a graduate of North Side High School Class of 1991 and served in the United States Army during the Gulf War Era.  Will as he was known, graduated from the Fort Wayne Police Academy on August 2, 2002 and began his career as a Patrolman. He remained on the force for 15 years until his untimely passing.

He attended St. John CME Church. Will was a member of the PBA (Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association of Fort Wayne) and FOP Lodge #14 (Fraternal Order of Police, Indiana Wayne 14).

He adored his family and friends, loved grilling, making his own beer and traveling.  Will was known for his sense of humor and many sayings such as, “Guard your brain bucket”, “Watch your nugget”, “That looked like it hurt” or “Let me know you’re listening” and “Drive it like you stole it.”

His time his on earth was short but, well lived and full of joy.

Will leaves to cherish many memories to his wife, Alisha; daughters, Simone, Lauren and Maya; a sister, D’Nell and brothers, Burton, Charles and Norman Smith; a special friend, Deborah Johnson and father and mother-in-law, Raymond (Linda) Stover; longtime family friends, Rachel and Francis Ikudabo; his mentor, Jack Barbour; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his brothers and sisters in law enforcement.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Steven Anthony Smith.

 

 

Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery  with Military Honors and FOP Ceremony
