Willie H. Mayes

Willie Henry Mayes was born April 18, 1956 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  He was the son of Mary Lou Johnson-Mayes and the late Carnie Mayes.  Willie departed this earthly life on Friday, January 19, 2018 Parkview Hospital.

In 1965. he accepted Christ as his Savior and baptized at Progressive Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Jesse White.  He would later follow Pastor White with the organization of True Love Missionary Baptist Church.

Willis was a 1975 graduate of Elmhurst High School and  was an avid sports fan.  He loved watching basketball and football and enjoyed conversing stats with his nephews and friends.  He was formerly employed by Superior Business Forms, Inc. and Meijer Stores for several years.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving mother, Mary Lou Johnson-Mayes of Marion, Alabama; sisters, Regina Mayes-Dobynes, Brenda Porter and Sharon Mayes all of Fort Wayne, Indiana; aunts, Ruth Clancy of Fort Wayne and Louise Rollins of Marion, Alabama and a host of other relatives and friends.

Willie will be laid to rest in Lindenwood Cemetery
