Johnny J. King was born August 20, 1937 in Marion, Alabama and went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2024 in Fort Wayne, IN. Johnny was born and raised by his late parents, John King and Sulina Phillips-King. Johnny accepted Christ at an early age at Eagle Groove Church in Alabama. Johnny was hardworking and a family man. Johnny moved to Fort Wayne with his family in 1966. He gave many years to Collins Oldsmobile before retiring from Zollner. Johnny loved to bowl and he belonged to several bowling leagues including General Electric Co. league with his children. Johnny was married to Lucy on September 25, 1960. He was a devoted husband and father to the five children from this union. He also adopted Cora King, his granddaughter. Johnny was a joy to be around and quiet in nature "UNTIL" he started talking about Alabama. The Dairy Barn, Collins Oldsmobile or Zollner. After retirement, Johnny enjoyed taking care of his home and yard. His favorite thing to do was sit on the corner of the lot with his lawn chair with his bonus son Byron Jenkins. They would watch the cars ride down the street and talk for hours. Johnny loved taking trips back to Marion, Alabama and Buffalo, New York to visit with family. The yearly family reunions in Alabama brought him so much joy.
Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Sulina King, his daughter, Angelic King and his grandchildren, Dupree Steward, Cora King, and Kennedy King.
Johnny leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Lucy King of 64 years; his children, Johnny King Jr., Jackulynn King Hightire, Rodney T. King and Martin King Sr. (Malikakah King); his grandchildren, Ronnie King, Terrance King, William Hightire, Tristan Span, Martin King Jr., Clifford King and Janaviah King. He also had seventeen great-grands and a host of nieces and nephews.
