Ollie M. (Chapman) Smith

 OLLIE M. SMITH, age 95, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at her home.  She was born July 14, 1925 in Marion, Alabama to Luellen and Peggie (Stemage) Chapman.
 

She was baptized at the age of 12 at Greenleaf Baptist Church in Marion, Alabama. In 1956, she married Richard C. Smith. They resided in Michigan for many years. While there she worked for Progressive Cleaners as a seamstress for 20 years.  In 1978, she moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana and began employment with J.L Hudsons Department Store - Glenbrook and retired in 1994.  

Ms. Ollie was a longtime member of Pilgrim Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Luellen and Peggie (Stemage) Chapman; husband, Richard C. Smith; siblings, Louise Hicks, Mary Kate Lapsley, Elvin N. Chapman, Henry Chapman, Luellen "Doc" Chapman, Ernest Chapman, Lincoln Chapman, Marion Chapman and Jesse Chapman.

Surviving are her brother, James (Eualeen) Chapman; sister, Lucretia Brown; sister-in-law, Delia Chapman and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. 

Service is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021 at Pilgrim Baptist Church, with walk-through visitation starting at 10 a.m.

Graveside service will be held at 11 am Friday, January 29,  2021 in United Memorial Gardens - Michigan.
