Forever in our hearts...

Bernice Tharp departed this earthly life on Friday, December 22, 2017 in Houston, Texas while visiting her daughter, Bonita Tharp.

She was born Nov. 9, 1928 to the late Ida (Nash) and Jake Williams, in Faunsdale,  Alabama.

In 1993, she retired from Magnavox after 39 years of service.  Her community involvement included, member of the NAACP, Urban League Guild, Eastside/Westside Club, First Black Social Club, Meals on Wheels, Foster Grandparent for children with special needs and a leader of the local unit of Church Women United.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Tharp Jr.; brothers, Houston Williams, Jake Williams, Clarence Williams, Charles Williams; sisters, Agnes Walker, Bessie Williams and Alice Black.

Surviving are her loving children, Dianne Tharp of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Bonita G. Tharp, Leonard Dean Tharp and Marcus (Kay) Tharp all of Houston, Texas; one sister,  the youngest child of nine, Doris Witherspoon of Cleveland, Ohio; along with a host of beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
