Betty Ruth ScottAugust 3, 1938 ~ August 23, 2017 (age 79)
Betty Ruth Scott was born on August 3, 1938 in Forest, Mississippi. Betty peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the Heritage Park Nursing Facility with family by her side.
She accepted Christ at an early age at the Link Chapel Methodist Church in Forest, Mississippi.
In 1960, she moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana and united with Tabernacle Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Calvin Perry. She continued to serve faithfully under the current leadership of Pastor Gonzlaee Martin until 2013 when her health began to fail. Betty served as an Usher and former Secretary of the Sunday School, which she loved. She was also a former member of the Choir and Missionary Society. She loved her Tabernacle Church family. She was always there, didn’t miss a Sunday, truly faithful and dedicated to the Lord.
She was employed by St. Joseph Hospital and retired after 30 years of dedicated service.
Left to treasure many loving and fond memories are a loving and devoted son, Charles Ray Scott of Fort Wayne, IN; mother, Jrutha Cook of Fort Wayne, IN; brother, Billy Ray Scott of Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Fredna (DeRoy) Weemes and Glenda Black both of Fort Wayne, IN and a host of nieces and nephews, whom she loved very much, along with other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Scott; a daughter, Gloria Scott; a sister, Linda Terrell; a brother-in-law, Herman Black Sr. and a special aunt, Alice Boykins.
Service is 11 am Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Tabernacle Baptist Church 3404 E. Chestnut St. with calling one hour before the service.
Ms. Betty will be laid to rest in Covington Memorial Gardens.
