Catherine Byrd  age 83 passed away on Friday,  August 4, 2017 at Lutheran Hospital surrounded by her children.

As a native of Eutaw, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Jerry and Rosie Bell (Mack) Jones.

 She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized.  On September 11, 1954 she married Jerry Byrd.

She retired from Fort Wayne State Developmental Center in 1995 and was a faithful member of the East Chestnut Street Church of Christ.  During her membership she was active in the Bridge Gappers and Senior Ministry.

Catherine was also preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Byrd; infant daughter, Shirley Ann Byrd; sisters, Willie Dell Ross, Betty Jones and Margaret J. Parham; niece, Jerilyn Jones; mother-in-law, Lucy Todd; a sister-in-law, Halloween Byrd and a son-in-law, Larry Jackson.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Debora E. Jackson, Donald T. Byrd (Abigail Freeman), Brenda L. (Gregory) Noel and Betina M. Byrd; eight grandchildren,  Larry C. (LaTausha) Jackson, Detra L. Jackson and Andrea R. Jackson, Alena S. Noel, Lynnia C. Noel, Dontray Jones, Donitra Byrd and Deja Freeman, 10 great grandchildren,  two brothers-in-law, Ananias Byrd and Charles Parham and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She will be laid to rest in Covington Memorial Gardens
