Dock Mims Jr. was born on March 18, 1944 in Marion, Alabama. At the age of 74, he passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018.
He accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized at an early age at the Oak Grove Methodist Church in Marion, Alabama.
In 1968, he married Henrietta Childs and to this union two children were born. The family relocated to Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1970. He worked for Anthony Car Wash and National Serv-All for many years.
Dock spent most of his time trying to help anyone in need. He enjoyed cook-outs, playing cards and dominos. His family was very dear to him and he enjoyed entertaining them.
Dock was preceded in death by his parents, Dock and Corrine Mims; siblings, Eddie and Susie Mims.
He leaves his wife, Henrietta Mims of Fort Wayne, Indiana; son, Walter Mims (Shenell) of Holland, Michigan; daughter, Stacey (Donald) Holmes of Fort Wayne; four grandchildren, W. James Hopkins, Demarco Hopkins (Alisha) both of Fort Wayne, Raeshon Sanders and Jaden Mims both of Holland, Michigan; five great grandchildren, Tairaj Javion Rutledge, Dania, Demarco Jr. and Dayla Hopkins and Jada Burris; two sisters, Clara Brooks and Sarah Mims of Fort Wayne; one brother, Willie Mims of Fort Wayne; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Nathan (Ann) Childs of Fort Wayne, Roosevelt (Kim) Childs of Fishers, Indiana, Sam Walker of Detroit, Michigan, George Childs (Cynthia), Barbara Patrick both of Newbern, Alabama, Beatrice (William) Scott, Sallie Childs both of Fort Wayne, Betty Childs of Detroit, Dorothy (Curly) Taylor of Dayton, Ohio, Corean Arrington of Selma, Alabama, Jessie Mae Walker and Mary Frances Walker both of Alabama; godchildren, Johnny Childs (April), Gwendolyn Hogue both of Fort Wayne and Emma Allen of Phoenix, Arizona along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Dock will be laid to rest in Covington Memorial Gardens
