Gladys (Gardner) Ash was born on June 26, 1943 in Bogue Chitto, Alabama. She was the daughter of Arthur Gardner Sr. and Creola (Fells) Gardner. She departed this earthly life on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Dupont Hospital.
She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and baptized at the True Vine Missionary Baptist Church in Browns, Alabama. Gladys was a 1961 graduate of Keith High School in Orrville, Alabama.
After relocating to Fort Wayne, Indiana, Gladys gained employment with General Electric Company where she retired in 2001 after more than 20 years of dedicated service.
In her free-time she enjoyed trips to the casino, listening to gospel music and talking on the telephone.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Arthur Jr. and John Gardner; two sisters, Carrie Martin and Eddie Everett; a grandson, Brandon Starks; sister-in-law, Mary Franks and brother-in-law, Robert Ash.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband, Troy Ash; three devoted children, Di-Ann (Carl) Stewart, Narcissie (Willie III) White and Elbert (Meredith Starks); step-daughters, Cherry Ash- (Willie) Harris and Marilyn Ash; stepsons, Felbert Ash, Herman Ash and Troy Ash Jr.; five grandchildren, DeMarcus Starks, Tayler McIntosh, Juwuan Stewart, Gabriel Starks and Nathan Starks; two great grandchildren, Aujenae Starks and Leah Nicole Shelton; five sisters, Emma Green, Annette Jones, Catherine Black, Mattie Thrash and Cherry (Donnie) Montgomery; two brothers, Curtis (Essie) Gardner and Ulysses (Orean) Gardner; a brothers-in-law, Lee ((Liz) Murphy, John Martin, John and Ike Williams; sister-in-law, Laudell Williams; special friends, Clara Middleton, Evelena Walker, Autherine Atkins and Michele Swain along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
