Lizzie Mae (Boyd) Grier was born on July 20, 1933 in Hope, Arkansas. She was one of ten children born the late James and Julia (Williams) Boyd.
Lizzie departed this life on April 19, 2018 at Lutheran Life Villages where she was a resident for several years.
She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized. After moving to Houston, Texas, she joined E. Bethel Baptist Church where she was active in the choir.
Later she relocated to California to be closer to her siblings. On December 18, 2000, she moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana to be with her sister, Delors.
Lizzie then united with St. John Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor James W. Bledsoe.
The majority of her life was spent working in private homes. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
Lizzie was also preceded in death by her five sisters, Beulah Sumlin, Eulah Kingsley, Henretta Taylor, Mae Ola Wheaton and Mattie Boyd and three brothers, Thomas Boyd, James “JB” Boyd Jr. and Cleotis Boyd.
Left to cherish her memory include her loving sister, Delors Jean Chaney; two sisters-in-law, Earlene Boyd and Dorothy Boyd and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
