Marzella Thornton was 69 years old when she passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at her home.

She was previously employed by Fort Wayne State Developmental Center until closing and retired from Lutheran Hospital after 34 years of service.

In her free time she enjoyed reading and watching television.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur C. Thornton and Louvenia Coleman; sisters, Frankie Pearl Perkins, Margie Montgomery and Edna Henderson; brothers, Riley Gene Tyra, Hazes F. Coleman and Hazel Thornton and a grandson, Eric R. Akison Jr.

Surviving are her son, Eric R, (Zendre) Akison; brother, Arthur James Thornton; sisters, Mattie M. Redick and Lou George Ginn; three grandchildren, Zierre Akison, Everen Akison and Zhamari Fowler and a numerous other relatives and friends.

Ms. Marzella will be laid to rest in Concordia Cemetery on Maumee Avenue
