Nathaniel “Nate” Floure, Sr.
“Papa Smoove” “Papa Short Short” was born on July 14, 1939 in Rosedale, Mississippi. At the age of 80 he departed this life to be with the Lord on Friday, August 16, 2019 at Parkview Regional Medical Center.
“Nate” as he was affectionately called moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana in his early days of life. He worked at BF Goodrich for many years and was a member of True Love Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman, Ohio State and Chicago Bears Fan. “Nate” was a kind and generous person that had a great love for his family. He loved landscaping, gardening, playing cards, the numbers, scratch offs and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
“Nate” leaves to hold precious memories to his best friend and love of his life, his wife of 50 years, Shelia Floure; his children, Nathaniel (Anissa) Floure, Jr., Shawn (Jerome) Floure-James, Michael Floure and Xavieere Thomas; goddaughters, Lisa Waters, Chalas Underwood; god brother, Leon (Jean) Williams; longtime friends Annie & Walter Priester, and Albert Soil; special friends, Melody (Bob) Hicks; 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, with a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He has now reunited with those of his family that preceded him in death, his parents, George Floor and Syble Lee (Nunley) Brown; daughter, Octavia Hayes and sister, Ann Brown.
A husband, father, grandfather,
fisherman and friend to many will be laid to rest in Covington Memorial Gardens
