Roland Carpenter was on born June 20, 1938 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the son of Vivien Spencer and Elizabeth Louise (Myers) Carpenter. On May 29, 2018, he quietly slipped away from us at the Woodview Healthcare Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age. Later in life he rededicated his life to Christ and was baptized on November 18, 1990 at Harvest Word of Life Ministries by Pastor Malcom Howell.
On December 26, 1974, he united in holy matrimony to Olive Allison in Miami, Florida. He was previously employed by Dana Corp and International Harvester before retiring. Yet, with a special love for kids, he came out of retirement and became a school crossing guard for Fort Wayne Community Schools, where he truly kept his kids safe.
Roland was a part of the Retirement club also known as the Mc Donald’s crew. He enjoyed meeting the guys and sharing stories. He was a great cook that loved cooking for his family and friends.
He and Olive enjoyed cooking together, traveling and attending the grandchildren’s basketball and football games.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vivien S. Carpenter and Elizabeth L. Sims; siblings, Donald Carpenter, Lewis Carpenter, Evelyn Carpenter, Georgia Ruth Carpenter, Marcella Carpenter Hayes and Clarene Wilson and a granddaughter, Alonna S. Allison.
Roland leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 43 years, Olive Carpenter; daughters, BarbaraCarpenter, Carla Carpenter Wims, Sankofa Folami, Regina (Charles) McClain, Annette (David) Lewis and Cathy Robinson (Robert) Davis; sons, Roland (Yolanda) Carpenter, Anthony (Clair) Carpenter. Thaddeus Dwayne (Tina) Robinson, Leroy (Afrika) Allison and Lamont Carpenter; brothers, Dewayne (Mary) Carpenter and Gerald (Darlene) Sims; sisters, Vivian L. Scott, Joann Mayfield and Geraldine Moore along with a multitude of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other family members and friends.
