Ruth E. (Perkins) James was born on July 21, 1920 in Barberton, Ohio. She was the daughter of Forrest and Mary (Farmer) Perkins.
At the age of 98, she passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at St. Joseph Hospital.
Ruth accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized. She completed her high school education at Central High School. After many years of service, she retired from International Harvester Truck Company.
She was a long time member of Union Baptist Church where she sang in the Choir for many years.
“Ruth enjoyed life and always looked on the bright side of things. Her optimistic nature made spending time with her invaluable and easy.” She will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Emmitt James; her siblings, Cleodell Bailey, Charles T. Perkins and Jean Perkins.
Ruth leaves to cherish her memory, a niece, Mary F. Dortche of Charlotte, North Carolina; nephews, Forrest T. Perkins II of Las Vegas, Nevada, Charles E. Perkins of Washington, D.C. and Michael L. Jett of Indianapolis, Indiana; great nieces and great nephew, M. Jeannelle (Franklin E.) Muhammad of Charleston, South Carolina, Ciarra J.M. Dortche of Greenville, North Carolina and George K.J. Dortche II of Charlotte, North Carolina; great-great nieces, Quortney M.D. Muhammad and Nyjai G. Muhammad and special friend and devoted caregiver, Gail Curry along with many dear and loving friends.
Ms. James will be laid to rest in Lindenwood Cemetery
