Ruth W. (Chapman) Price
Devoted Mother, Sister and Grandmother
was born on April 13, 1932 in Jacksonville, Florida to Lillian (Chapman) Parks-Penny. Her transition from this life was quiet and peaceful as she answered the Masters’ Call on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 while residing at Heritage Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She had accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age but had rededicated her life to Him several years ago and became a member of Greater Progressive Baptist Church.
For over 36 years she worked and retired from Fort Wayne State Developmental Center as a supervisor. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, sewing, playing Bingo and traveling. She also loved flowers and being on committees and the activities at Heritage Park. Ruth impacted the lives of many through her role in life as a wife, mother, sister, aunt, mentor and nurturer.
She leaves to cherish her memory to her beloved sons, Lamotte (Jackie Hightire) Price and Quinton Grant; daughters, Tamsina (Cornelius) Pernell and Florence Arlene (Gerald) Wiseman; a sister, Geraldine Edler; a niece, Tammy Edler; two sisters in law, Lurleen and Shirley Price; a god-daughter, Lawanna S. Walker; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The angels smiled upon Ruth as she transitioned from this life of 87 years and was greeted by those who had preceded in death: her husband, Frankie Price; mother, Lillian Parks-Penny Price; a great granddaughter, Miyonna Kolagbodi.
Ruth waill be laid to rest by her husband Frankie in Lindenwood Cemetery
