William “Bill” H. Watson, Jr. , age 69, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018, at Parkview Region Medical Center surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born September 18, 1949 in Parkersburg, West Virginia to the late William and Cora Watson.
Bill confessed Christ as his Savior at an early age. During his Christian journey he was a member of First Presbyterian Church. In 1992, he joined Union Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Clyde Adams.
Education: Bill graduated from South Side High School and lettered in Football, Track, Wrestling and Basketball. He received the “Blanket Award” for each sport. He also, received an Associate Degree from Purdue University of Fort Wayne.
Career: Bill worked at Phelps Dodge Corp., Old Fort YMCA, Bunche Elementary School, Lincoln Elementary School, North Side High School and R. Nelson Snider High School where he retired in 2014 as an Administrative Assistant.
Activities: Bill loved sports and for many years coached little league baseball at Weisser Park. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, swimming, and watching his favorite NFL team, the Indianapolis Colts, play football.
Surviving are his loving wife Linda of 27 years, three beloved children, Jeffrey (Tyra) Watson and William Jaron Watson all of Fort Wayne, Indiana and LaShanda (Torrey) Crenshaw of Birmingham, Alabama. Siblings: Patricia (Mark) Bannister of Parkersburg West Virginia, Anita L. (Glyn) Evans of Fort Wayne Indiana, Cornelia Kaye (Dwain) Tollison of Carson, California, Timothy Watson of Fort Wayne Indiana, five grandchildren and a host of other relatives, extended family and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by: his parents, William H. and Cora Watson and a sister, Mary Presley.
