Albert Reese Jr. Obituary

Albert Reese Jr . made his peaceful transition to heaven on Tuesday October 3, 2023.   He was born September 4, 1947 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Albert Reese Sr. and Minnie Lee (Williams) Stevenson.  He was the oldest of 8 children.  He was a man of few words but very mighty when he spoke and was known as “Hurk” short for Hercules.

Albert accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age at Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. Samuel Walker Jr.  He was a past member of the Ebony Voices Choir of Jerusalem and enjoyed Saturday men fellowship.  He was a faithful member until his health issues under the leadership of Pastor Maurice E. Culver Sr.

Albert met the love of his life Patricia Black at Central Jr /Central High where he was a teacher assist in her art class.  He enjoyed watching her walk down the hall after leaving class.  On July 26, 1969, they had a double wedding ceremony with his brother Charlie and Janet Reese.  He was married 54 years and to this union were 4 children Albert III, Anettris Diane, Albert Lamont and Adrian Lee Reese.

Albert was a 1966 graduate of Central High School where he played football.  He loved spending time with his family and dancing where he would often break it down to the floor.  Also, he loved attending all sporting events, especially Southside.  He dedicated more than 20 years with Metro Youth Sports as a football coach with the Raiders, mentor to so many and a football coach at Ben Geyer Middle School.

Albert was employed at G E for 14 years. In 1981, he became an employee at the Allen County Jail and worked his way through the ranks.  In 1992, he was promoted to sergeant rank where he remained until retirement with 25 years service.  He later worked part-time for 5 years at Towles Intermediate with Fort Wayne Community Schools.

Albert leaves to cherish and honor his loving memory wife of 54 year Patricia Ann Reese; daughter Anettris Diane (Tony) Starks, son Adrian (Tanika) Reese; Sisters Malinda Reese and Queen Esther (Alfred) Dubose and Sharon (Andrew) Fuller; sister in laws Joyce Reese and Carol Stevenson; stepbrothers, Bobby, Kenneth (Geraldine), Will (Shirley), Duane (Vickie) and Michael Stevenson; foster brother Tyrone (Vickie) Woods; special uncle David (Sheila) Williams; special cousin Lillian “Doll” Larkin ; 9 grandchildren Andre’ Reese, Bryant (BJ) Underwood Jr., Antre’ Starks, Toni Starks, Adrian II, Adarius, Ajilon and Aria Reese; 11 great grandchildren Malaya Reese, Skye’ Underwood, Cayson Starks, Kaliah Reese, Summer Underwood, Anissa Starks, Antre’ Starks Jr, Braxton Underwood, Aryeh Reese, Brylin Underwood, Goel Reese and a host of nieces, nephews extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert “Covered Up” Reese Sr; mother, Minnie Lee Reese Stevenson; stepfather, St. Luke Stevenson; sons, Albert III and Albert Lamont Reese; sisters, Betty Reese; brothers, Charlie (Janet), Terry, Larry and Raymond Reese; stepbrothers, Howard Lee and Richard Stevenson.

There will be a funeral service on Saturday October 14, 2023 at 1pm at the Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1151 Francis Street. There will be a viewing from 10:00am - 1:00pm.  Burial will be at the Lindenwood Cemetery.
