Betty Barbee

Betty Jean Barbee was 92 when she went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 9, 2020.  She was born on March 15, 1928, to the late Hattie Seals.  She was the baby of four girls, Francis, Nowling, Billie Mae Kemp and Ernestine Collins.

Betty confessed faith in Christ and was baptized at an early age.  She worked for Tokheim Corporation, the Indiana Department of Child Services where she retired, and was also a foster grandparent until her health failed her.

Betty gave birth to three sons, Vincent Tinker, Courtney and Tracy Barbee.

Betty loved her family, friends and neighbors, "but you knew she loved you if she said 'I live at 1409 Grant Street', that was an open invitation for you to come.  She enjoyed working with ceramics, playing cards, Yahtzee, socializing and being surrounded by her family.

" Betty's life motto was "Never hurt anyone, always try to help."

Though she is gone, she will be truly missed.

Betty leaves to cherish her memories to her son, Tracy (Annita) Barbee; and her legacy continues with 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, and a special grandson, Vincent McKinnley; daughters-in-law, Carla Tinker and Gwen Barbee; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends.

She was also preceded in death by her sons, Vincent Tinker and Courtney Barbee; grandchildren, Brittany Barbee-Bailey and Richard "Bo" Martin; three sisters, Frances Nowling, Billy Kemp and Ernestine Collins, and a special sister, Mary Adams.

A Celebration of her life will be held at a later date
