Betty Marie Reese was born on January 24, 1953 in Fort Wayne, IN to the late Albert Reese Sr. and Minnie Lee Reese-Stevenson. Betty departed this life peacefully July 9, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.
She accepted Christ at an early age at Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Samuel Walker. She was an active member of the church and was happy to serve as part of the nursing auxiliary.
Betty attended Fort Wayne community schools and was a graduate of Elmhurst High School Class of 1972. She received a certificate for Medical Assistant from Ivy Tech College in 2005.
Betty had a strong work ethic and worked in many different fields, including the office of Dr. Charles Coats and she was presently working for Easter Seals Arc of NE Indiana.
She enjoyed music, dancing and movies. She was the life of any party and always had a smile on her face that lit up any room. Family was very important to her and she made sure to make everyone feel welcome. She personally baked cakes for her ‘Nephews’ and was famous for her peach cobbler.
Betty was a devoted football and basketball fan. Her lifetime teams were the NFL Raiders and the NBA Los Angeles Lakers. She also loved the Metro Youth Raiders and was their #1 fan for over thirty years. You could often see her running down the sideline following the ball and players. She never hesitated to cheer them on or encouraged them to be great.
Betty leaves to cherish her memories, son, Jerry (Krystle) Reese; daughter-in-love, Monica Reese; step-children, Kareen, Ebony, Javette, Sheena and Freddie Joe Jr.; Her grandchildren, Preonda, Jerion, Annajah, Naya, Dominic, Amber, Damond, Jalen, Sequoyah, Lacey, Isaih, Lavar, Rayana, Lundon, Isiah, Nyla, Brishawn and Millie; two great grandchildren, Kezlin and Zayde; brother, Albert (Patricia) Reese; sisters, Malinda Reese and Queen Esther (Alfred) Dubose, sister-in-law, Joyce Reese; step brothers, Bobby, Richard, Kenneth (Geraldine), Will (Shirley), Duane (Vickie) and Michael Stevenson; foster brother, Tyrone Woods; best friend, Virginia Chapman; uncles, aunts, and a hosts of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Albert ‘Covered Up’ Reese Sr.; mother, Minnie Lee Reese-Stevenson; stepfather, St. Luke Stevenson; son, Marquette Reese; brothers, Charlie (Janet), Terry, Larry and Raymond Reese and stepbrother, Howard Lee Stevenson.
