The Life and Legacy of Carl Delawrence Henry
Carl was affectionately known by Carlos, Kokomo or Moe. Carl was born January 5, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois. He was the seventh child of 12 children born to Forrest Henry Sr. and Luther Mae Henry. Carl confessed hope in Christ and was baptized at an early age. Carl attended Victor Herbert Elementary School and McKinley Upper Grade Center - Richard T. Crane High School. Carl held numerous jobs, among them was summer jobs through the YMCA work programs. He worked at E.L. Knight Construction company alongside his father, Forrest Henry Sr. Carl moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana as a young man, over 30 years ago, where he lived until his death on February 16, 2025.
Carl really loved his family. He was a caring, kind, compassionate and generous person. He was one of the younger brothers but acted like he was the oldest, always looking out for everyone. He always wanted everything clean and organized. He loved cooking and giving cards to the women in our family on special occasions. He loved making jokes and making people laugh. He would always tell me, when we were talking on the phone before he hung up, "Let me tell you a jokey-joke", then tell me the joke and we would burst out laughing. Then he would say "Get off of my phone!".
Carl leaves behind to cherish his memories : his loving mother, Luther Mae Henry; two sisters, Frances (Dexter) Kelley, of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Lorretta (Frederick) Shelton, Hammond, Indiana; three brothers : Forrest Henry Jr., Anthony (Connie) Henry and Terrell Maurice Henry (both from Fort Wayne, Indiana); a son, Carllee Henry Sr.; granddaughter, Caleeyah and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
