Carol Ann Hawkins was born November 13, 1941, in Fort Wayne, IN to Thornwell (Thornell) McCall of North Virginia and Jane Bassett McCall, of South Carolina.
Carol confessed her faith in Christ at an early age. Carol went home to be with the lord on October 22, 2023.
Carol was a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne, IN. Carol worked at Sheller Globe Manufacturing in Grabill, Indiana, where she retired from after 25 years.
Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. However, she was best known for being a Great Protector over her 7 children, niece, and nephew. She was truly the definition of a “Mother Bear”; she did not mind letting anyone know not to mess with her children, and if you did, baby, you would see the wrath of Carol.
Carol was famous for her Soul Food style Sunday dinners where everyone was invited. She loved a good party, where she would dance and joke around being the life of the party. She loved to shop and dress up in her designer clothes and fur. Carol always had something to say that would make you laugh. If you were around her, you were laughing no matter the occasion or where you were at, she was going to say something funny to make you laugh and be in shock that she said what she said. She had no filter.
Historical Fact About Carol: Carol often bragged about her being the first African American person to attend the local St. Paul Lutheran School in downtown Fort Wayne. For those that did not believe her, she would encourage them to go to the school and look at her picture hanging on the wall in the school lobby. LOL, she also likes telling her grandkids that they got their smartness from her. Actually, anything that her kids and grandkids did well, they got it from her LOL
