Daryl E. “Khalif” Brown was the second born to Joan Williams at Martland Medical Center Newark, NJ. on June 23, 1962. Daryl departed this life in the loving presence of wife and children on September 11, 2024 at age 62. Khalif gave his life to the lord at an early age, attending Cornerstone Baptist Church of Newark. 

Khalif was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, attending Sussex Elementary School, and continued his education at Barringer High School. Khalif went on to work for Calvin Cleaning Company for 10 years followed by working for Simply Bedding for an additional 8 years. Khalif was a dedicated hard worker who gladly assisted anyone in need. 

Khalif met his beloved wife Chandra Lyons in 1993. They shared a friendship for many years before joining hands in marriage on May 25, 2010. They spent 14 loving years together and shared a love for watching movies, sitting outside gossiping, and hosting gatherings with their loved ones. 

Khalif was most proud of his role as a father of his 11 children, and fathering a host of their family and extended friends. He thoroughly enjoyed every moment of being able to mentor and be a real standup role model to all the children that came into his life. He was a man who led with his heart and not with his head.

Khalif leaves behind his wife, Chandra Brown; 2 brothers, Derek (Tanya) Brown and Dawud Williams of Newark; 1 sister, Cheronda Williams of Newark; 11 children : Khalif Brown, Khaderah Brown, Keisha Brown, Julian Lyons, Kym Lyons, Jalen Lyons, Devonte Brown, Marquette Brown, Khalia Brown, Destinique Brown, Hussan Brown of Fort Wayne; 4 grandchildren : KaNylah Brown, Karter Gilmore, Kharis Brown, and Kym Lyons Jr. of Fort Wayne; along with a host family and friends. 

Khalif is preceded in death by his mother, Joan Williams; sister, Yolanda Tammy Williams; and granddaughter, Kaliyah Gilmore.
