Delores was born June 29, 1929, in Sedalia, Missouri to Leonard Landon Johnson and Rosetta Lolles (both deceased). She was raised by her grandmother Hattie Mae Johnson in Sedalia. Delores graduated from John Marshall High School in Chicago, Illinois. After high school, she moved back to Sedalia and went on to complete two years of college at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri.
While on summer vacation in Sedalia, she met Leon Thomas Clark and they soon were married in 1948. Their first daughter, Paulette Elaine Clark was born in 1949 and their second daughter Joyce Marie Clark was born in 1951. In 1952 she was invited to live with her aunt in Fort Wayne, Indiana so they packed up and left Sedalia.
Delores was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church under Pastors Dixie and Shade. She was a member of the Chancellor Choir. She was also a member of Post 148 Women’s ‘Auxiliary where she initiated fashion shows every year.
Delores Marie Clark parted this life on Thursday, October 14, 2021, in Scottsdale, Arizona where she had resided with her daughter.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory two daughters, Paulette Smith (Danny), and Joyce Clark; three grandchildren, Stacy Allen Clark, Lanette Michelle Causey, and Nichet Danette Smith; three great-grandchildren, David Crenshaw, Darian, and De’Ante Causey, and three great-great-grandchildren, Armani, Demir, and Zaid.
