Emma L. Pruitt
Emma was born to the late Rev. Israel Page Sr. and Margaret (Warren) Page in Perry County, Alabama. She accepted Christ at a very early age and went on to serve in her father’s church throughout much of her early life.
Emma moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1969 following her separation from her husband Theodore Pruitt Jr. Upon arriving in Fort Wayne she joined Jerusalem Baptist Church pastured by the late Rev. Samuel L. Walker Sr. She later went on to join Pilgrim Baptist Church under the guidance of Rev. Samuel Shade.
Upon arriving in Fort Wayne she acquired employment at The Fort Wayne State Hospital and Developmental Center where she worked for over 20 years and eventually retired.
Emma was a giver and was known for her generous nature. She resided in Sheridan Court apartments for 32 years and during that time she would cook for her neighboring residents, clean the building and be a guiding light for anyone who needed a friend, mentor or worship and praise warrior during a time of sickness or illness.
As a Christian, Emma was an avid reader of her bible and attended church with a passion. To quote an appropriate scripture in conversation was as easy and comfortable as taking a breath for most. Church was her place of comfort where she knew she could receive the word of the lord, pass it forth, and use it to guide her daily activities and way of life throughout.
She leaves to cherish her memories two sons; Gradlin (Speedy) Pruitt and Robert Edward Pruitt. She leaves a granddaughter Nikia Monique Ferrell and great grandson Jalen Ferrell.
Emma was blessed with a large, loving and devoted family of twelve(12) sisters and brothers: Dave Page (deceased), Langhorn (Cap) Page (Deceased), Ossie Mae Askew of Bessemer AL., Howard Page (Deceased), Robert Lee Page (Deceased) and wife Sarah of Buffalo, N.Y, Margaret Page (Deceased), Willie James Page and wife Thelma of Ft.
