Mother Ernestine McCowan “Ma Dear” fought the good fight and went home to be with the Lord on June 27, 2021 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Known for style and grace she was 92 years old and planted an astonishing legacy of love and giving.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Elayne Weathersby of Chicago Illinois; sons, Marshall (Nancy) Woodard of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Anthony (Kimberly) Simmons of Indianapolis, Indiana, Cornealius (Jean) Simmons of Palm City Florida, Bishop George McCowan, Arthur McCowan and daughter, Kathy McCowan all of Fort Wayne, Indiana; godsons and goddaughters, Bradley (Joan) Sanders, Ella (Luther) Jordan, JoEllen (Joe) Lauer,  Pastor Robert (Maggie) Bell and Dr. Charles Coats, 29 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.  

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, George E. McCowan; daughter, Geraldine Gregory; son, Revell Harper and a granddaughter, Renee Salmon.

 

Service is Noon Saturday, July 10, 2021 at True Love Baptist Church 715 E. Wallace St. with visitation starting at 11 am.
