Faymous (Jap)Tyra Jr. (aka-Grayson Perkins) was born February 8th, 1949, in Eldridge Alabama. He was the son of Faymon McCollum Sr, and Frankie Pearl (Tyra) Perkins. On Wednesday July 23, 2025 at 3:40pm, at the age of 76, Faymous passed away at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.
Faymous attended Central High School where he graduated in 1967, and soon after joined the army and received, honorable discharge Faymous accepted Christ at a very early age. Faymous went on to attend Midwest Christian Institute from 2008-2012, where he graduated with an Associates Degree. On September 20,2012, Faymous was officially ordained and installed to preach the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ at East Chestnut Church of Christ and became assistant preacher. Faymous' last place of employment was Foster Grandparents where he was placed at Euell Wilson Center and Martin Luther King Montessori.
Faymous is proceeded in death by his parents, his two sons, Jason Reid and Zachary Stewart and his two siblings, Bonnie and Geneva (McCollum) Reed. Faymous leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Michelle Tyra, three daughters, Fayetta Tyra, LaTonya (William) Gosnell and Hope Tyra, his son, Faymous Tyra Jr, his sisters, Helen Jones and Glenda (Marion) Hodges, his brother, Faymon McCollum Jr., 4 step children, 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, with a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Psalm 103:14-16- For he knows how weak we are, he remembers we are only dust. Our days on earth are like grass, like wild flowers, we bloom and die. The wind blows and we are gone as though we had never been here.
