Florence Walker, the daughter of the late Frank and Beulah (Chandler) Underwood, was born on May 18,1933 in Uniontown, Alabama.  She went home to be with the lord on March 24, 2025.  

Florence accepted Christ at an early age and united with Mount Olive Baptist Church in Uniontown, Alabama.  Florence was joined in holy matrimony to George Walker on October 22, 1950 and moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana.  Florence joined Pilgrim Baptist Church in 1952 and later joined Progressive Baptist Church in 1955.  She joined Come As You Are Community Church as a charter member in 1989.  For over 40 years she served faithfully on the Usher Board. Her other ministries were the Floral Club, Pastor Helpers and the Mothers Board. Grace was in her steps, and heaven in her eyes. In every gesture she exemplified dignity and love. 

Florence retired from Indiana Purdue in 1995 after 30 years of service.  She loved going to church, gardening and cooking.  Florence was a woman with a caring heart, a helping hand, and a warm smile for everyone. 

Florence leaves to cherish her memory her daughters: Cheryl Matthews, Georgiana Brooks, and Henrietta Freeman; her grandchildren:  Sonia Brooks, Tizzy Freeman, Ayshah Matthews, Cherette Freeman and Alfonise Brooks ; her great-grandchildren: Taniya Richardson, Corlayla Martin, Amira Freeman and Avory Brooks; and her spiritual daughter, Tanya Sherrill and many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Walker, her daughter, Beulah Walker, her brother, Clarence Underwood, and her sisters: Minnie L. Freeman, Mattie Jones, and Carrie Woodfin.
