Joe Bryant affectionately known as “Joe Bucky” was born October 2, 1944 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Oscar and Hattie Mae (Davis) Bryant. He transitioned from this life on the morning of November 18, 2020 at Parkview Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
After graduating from Central High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Joe enlisted in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam. After returning from Vietnam, he worked for a brief period at Tokheim Corporation. After leaving Tokheim, he mastered the trade of automobile repair. He was a self-made mechanic, for family and the neighborhood. He was considered by many a car enthusiast, due to his devoted love of cars. His dream was to own a Corvette.
Anyone who knew Joe knows that he had a passion for cars and dogs. He considered himself a “master trainer” when it came to his dogs, he especially loved Pit Bulls. He was also a great story teller, he would laugh harder than anyone as he was telling the story. His mother, Ms. Hattie would say, “Joe is this your first time hearing the story too.” Well…
Joe leaves to cherish his memory five children, Treva Bryant, Robert Hayden, Jonell (Rev. Guy) Willis, Monique Bryant, and Hattie Underwood, his devoted sisters, Alteree Stewart, Mary Bryant and Inez Scott, eighteen (18) grandchildren and five (5) great grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends.
