Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. - Matthew 5:8

Deacon John Wesley Kizer was born on December 6, 1948 in Byhalia, Mississippi.  He was the son of the late Rev. McKinley Kizer Jr. and the late Roberta (Guy) Kizer.

John departed this life on Saturday, January 11, 2020 after a short stay at the Englewood Heath and Rehabilitation Center.

He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was baptized.  He was a graduate of Byhalia High School.  In the Summer of 1955, he along with his family moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana.

In 1966, his father, Rev. McKinley Kizer founded Mt. Olive   Baptist Church where John became a charter member.

During his membership he sang in the Male Chorus and served as a Deacon.  His writing skills were so impressive that he was in charge of preparing the various bulletins for the church and its activities.

For several years, John worked as a truck driver.  He was also a United States Army veteran serving during the Vietnam Era and with an overseas service in Germany.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, McKinley Kizer III.
