Johnny David Green was born on June 22, 1946 in Marion, Alabama to the late David and Ernest Lee Green. He passed away with his wife Queen by his side on October 2, 2020 at Majestic Care.
Johnny was united in Holy Matrimony to Queen Esther Shepherd on April 26, 1969.
As a child Johnny was baptized at Pilgrim Baptist Church. He graduated from Central High School and served in the United States Army.
In 2096, Johnny retired from Dana Corp. after thirty years of employment. Johnny was also involved in the community as owner of Johnny’s Tire Shop on Pontiac Street for fifteen years. He loved playing cards with his brothers, collections of owls, and model cars and trucks.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Queen Esther Shepherd-Green; five children, Patricia (Michael) Green-Simpson, Katrina Green-McGee, Kimberly Green, Kamille (Jonnie) Green-Henderson, and James McAfee. Johnny is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Michael Green Sr., TraShawn Green, John McGee II, Jaleesa McGee, Jasmine McGee, Oeyocha Green, Kierra Green, Kenyatta Simpson Jr., Oneisha Hampton, Kennedi Green, and favorite granddaughter Morgan Henderson, twelve great-grandchildren, his siblings, Mary Bright, Clarence (Rissie) Green, Dorothy Brownlee, Betty (Willie) Gilbert, Ida (Harvey) Gibson, Sandy Green, Donald (Linda) Green, Chandra Boone, and Ernest Green. Johnny’s in-laws, Wanda Whitehead, Ruth Ann King-Green, Lee Shepherd Jr., Charlie (Maebell) Shepherd, Gregory (Carol) Marshall, Henderson (Marie) Marshall, Josephine, and Helen Teague; one aunt, Queen Esther Tinker-Green, special nephew, Robert Abercrombie, along with a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Ernest Lee; two brothers, Robert Whitehead and David Douglas Jr.; his first-born son, Johnny Kirby and sister-in-law Rosalind Voncille Shepherd-Johnson.
Johnny will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.
