L.C. Brooks, age 62, was born in Fort Dix, New Jersey on October 27, 1957. He was the son of Bailey L C Brooks and Annie Mae (Perry) Brooks. He departed this life on August 10, 2020, 11:12 pm at Canterbury Rehabilitation Center.
He was a graduate of Wayne High School Class of 1977 and a former maintenance tech at Lutheran Hospital.
L.C. was baptized at an early age and spent most of his life being a family man, watching sports, playing basketball, listening to old school music and drinking his occasional beer.
L.C. was preceded in death by his parents, Bailey L.C. Brooks and Annie Mae Brooks; sister, Della Mae Ireland and a son, McArthur C. Abernathy.
He is survived by his children, Bobette Abernathy of Fort Wayne, IN, Kinta (Kelly) Dowdell of Fort Wayne, IN, Christina Reynolds of Moss Point, MS, Nickolas (Tawnisha) Reynolds of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Victoria Reynolds of Moss Point, MS.
He also leaves behind his siblings, Cecil (Maple) Perkins of Selma, AL, Rose Perkins of Fort Wayne, IN, Larry (Mavis) Brooks of El Reno, OK, Bobbie Jo (Jeremey) Smith of Roanoke, VA and Bettie Jo (Carl) Harris of Fort Wayne, IN.
Left to cherish in his memory are a host of grandchildren, Celeste Ridley of Fort Wayne, IN, Austin Abernathy of Detroit, MI, Ja’Vion Abernathy of Fort Wayne, IN, Terrell Reynolds of Moss Point, MS, Madeline Kennedy and Jorydan Dowdell of Fort Wayne, IN, as well as Josiah Reynolds of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; a great grandbaby, Jendayi Ridley; his favorite cousin, Jean “Diva” Perry; special family friend, Coleman Walker along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
