Lawanda Denice Johnson 
Mother, daughter, wife, grandmother and friend passed away July 18,2024 at the age 55. She was born on March 14,1969 in Detroit Michigan to Elaine Bailey and Jacie Rowe. Her departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Lawanda, also known as "Pookie", attended Detroit Public Schools, where she received her high school diploma.

To know Pookie was to love her. She was very outgoing, hilarious and family oriented. Pookie was stylish and always dressed to impress. She loved to hang out with her family and friends. Pookie was the life of the party, always down to have some fun. She also enjoyed traveling making memories with her kids and grandkids. Pookie was a storyteller, always had a story to tell that will have you laughing until you cry. She was very much a jack of all trades. You could always catch her cuddling on the couch with her dog Chole and watching her favorite T.V shows on the ID channel.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her husband Delano Johnson; her 3 Children: Perignon (Marquetta) Johnson, Brittany Johnson, and Holland Johnson; her 3 grandchildren: DeMarco Johnson, Amiya Custer, and Ayden Knight; her siblings: Kelly Williams, Andre "Bay-Bay" Bailey, Jacie Rowe and Rhonda Rowe. She also leaves to cherish her memories her special family members, Aunt Jean Calvert; Best friend, Sheila "Weep" Purfoy; Cousins, Moobie Spearman, LaKenya Pitts, and Yonnie Jones; long time friend, Tora “E-Way"Alums, and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Elaine Bailey and Jacie Rowe; her brother, Michael Paul; her Aunt Glennie Jones; Uncle, Cleofus Spearmen; and cousin, Dina May; and many more relatives that we keep dear to our hearts.

Pookie's departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her kindness to others, and her zest for lite. Her memory will continue to live on in the countless lives she touched.
