Lena M. (Fowler) Cox was born July 2, 1930 in Maxton, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Leslie and Ollie Mae Fowler.
She departed this earthly life on February 21,2021 at Signature Healthcare in Fort Wayne, Indiana at the age of 90.
Lena accepted Christ an early age and baptized at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Maxton, North Carolina and was a graduate of Maxton High School.
After her graduation she married her high school sweetheart, Archie James Cox and moved to New York where she united with the Shiloh Baptist Church in Rochelle, New York there she served as a Deaconess and Usher. She obtained an Associate Degree from IBM in Computer Programming. She resided there for 47 years.
Mother Lena retired from Medical Labs in Pleasantville, New York after many years of service.
In 1997, she relocated to Laurinburg, North Carolina for 18 years. She later desired to be closer to her son and moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 2015, where she remained until her passing.
The Lord truly blessed Mother Lena. She enjoyed traveling every chance she could get. She made several adventures visiting Hawaii Jamaica, Canada, Cancun, along with numerous cruise ship trips.
Left to cherish her memory includes her one and only beloved son, Larry J. Cox and his wife, Vickie Cox; sister, Christine Laftonof White Plains, New York; three grandchildren, Keyonia, Jasha and Shakeia, one great grandchild, Jayton and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Archie James Cox and three brothers, Leslie, Clint and Gus Fowler.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, March 5, 2021 at Hillside Memorial Park in Laurinburg, NC.
