Lizzie E. Young

Lizzie Easter (Chandler) Young, age 77, was born January 13, 1944 in Florence, Alabama to Robert and Ella Chandler.  She passed away on October 11, 2021 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana surrounded by loved ones.  

Lizzie was a homemaker and a loving figure of her community. She touched many hearts during her lifetime. Even though Lizzie didn't have children of her own she was considered a mother and grandma by those who knew her.

Lizzie was baptized at an early age at Bethel Lauderdale Missionary Baptist Church in Florence, Alabama. She later moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana and reunited with her hometown friend, William Young Sr. whom she later married.  

Lizzie was a long time member of Good Hope Baptist Church and served as a mother of the church for many years.  

In addition to her parents and late husband William Sr. she was also preceded  in death by her sisters, Essie May Chandler, Sam Ella Irons and Nasrie Marie Chandler and her brothers, James Henry Chandler and William Joe Chandler.

She leaves to cherish her memory a stepson, William Young Jr. of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sisters, Barbara Lee Sweeney of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Fannie Christine  Thompson of Florence, Alabama; a brother, Richard  (Debra) Chandler of Florence, Alabama; godson, Tyland Simmons of Fort Wayne, Indiana; special niece, Carolyn Chandler of Florence, Alabama; special nephew, Darryl Chandler of Fort Wayne, Indiana; caregiver and friend, Karen Mitchell of Fort Wayne, Indiana, 14 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and a host of other beloved nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
