Lucile Howard Obituary

Lucile Virginia Nelson-Howard was born to Wiley and Ammie Agnew, in Trenton, Tennessee on August 11, 1930.

She attended Rosenwald High School and accepted Christ and baptized while in Trenton. Mother Howard moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1955.

Upon her arrival to Fort Wayne, she united with Progressive Baptist Church as a chartered member.  She later became a chartered member of True Love Missionary Baptist Church under the organization and leadership of the late Bishop Jesse White.   Her devoted membership continued under the leadership of Pastor Robert Bell.  She was active in the church until her health would no longer allow her to attend.

She was employed by Magnavox Company for 20 years and retired from International Harvester Truck upon the closing of the Fort Wayne plant.

At the age of 88 years young and after years of raising children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and the neighborhood, she passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Parkview-Randallia.

She was preceded in death by, her parents, Wiley I. Agnew and Ammie Virginia Agnew; husband, Charlie Howard; former husband, Emerson O. Nelson; sons, James L. “Bubba” Nelson, Lawrence James Nelson and Joseph E. Nelson Jr.; son-in-law, Sandy Bennett; stepdaughter, Wanda Parker; sisters, Thelma Stephens and Ella Holder; brothers, Elmer, JT, John Wiley and Harry Agnew; grandson, Tyoung Holley ”Gabby”; granddaughter, Willet Nelson and  great granddaughter, Fashionee’ Moore.

Surviving are her children, Mary Scott, Adell Bennett, Shirley and Reba Nelson; sons, John, Willie, Edward (Melisa), E. L,          DeWayne, Ronald, Donald (JoAnn) and Gary Nelson, 68 grandchildren, 171 great grandchildren, 83 great-great grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mother Howard will be laid to rest in Covington Memorial Gardens on Saturday, April 27, 2019
