Marine Ware
Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt & Friend
Marine (Jones) Ware was born November 21, 1941 in Holly Springs, Mississippi. She was born to the union of John Henry Jones and Leaner (Blackmon) Jones. She made her earthly departure on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Parkview Regional Medical Center after a long, strong, and courageous fight.
She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age under the leadership of the late Rev. Caldwell, pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church. She was a member of The Red Circle, Junior Usher Board, and BTU. She was the “Bible Scholar” to her family and loved to attend Bible Study.
She attended South Side High School. She was employed with General Electric and later became a domestic homemaker where she baked and catered for many and would also find joy in sending cakes and meals to those near and far.
In 1960, she joined in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Arthur Ware Jr. and from that union they were blessed with five children.
After her marriage to Art, she united with Turner Chapel A.M.E Church. In 2010, she reunited with Shiloh Baptist Church where she attended faithfully, until her earthly departure.
Mother Ware, as she was loving called, enjoyed her family first and foremost. Cooking and baking were a few of her many passions along with reading and learning all she could about God’s word.
3214 Smith Street… aka The Big House, aka Home Base where she made everyone feel welcomed and everyone left with a full stomach and a warm heart and a little dessert on the side. She fed everybody on this side of heaven. She was the Cake Boss and Queen of the Kitchen. She will be forever remembered for so many bake goods she prepared with love. But most especially, her peanut brittle and Lemon Jell-O cakes, you know ....the one with the toothpicks in it!
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry Jones, Leana (Blackmon) Jones and Mary Frances Bryant. Her husband of almost 60 years, Arthur Ware Jr.; a great grandson, Raytwon Robinson; brother, Calvin G. Jones, and a niece, Stacey L. Jones.
