Mary Gatson, 92, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, at Parkview Hospice.

Born on March 3, 1933, in Melissa, Texas, Mary was the daughter of the late Charlie Crockett and Ella Mae (Brooks) Crockett. She moved to Fort Wayne as a teenager, where she made her home and devoted her life to her family, faith, and service to others.

Mary was employed by the State Developmental Center for over 40 years, retiring in 1997. During her career, she was known for her dedication, compassion, and the respect she showed to all those in her care. Her work left a lasting impression on her colleagues and the community she served.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; 10 siblings; her sons: Larry Gatson, Scottie Ferrell, and Terry Gatson; and her daughter,Pamela Ferrell.

She is survived by her loving children: Clara Gatson, Delois Perry, Thomas Gatson (Delores), Angela Patterson, Derrell Gatson, Robin (Ricky) Miesen, Lavarrel “Val” Gatson, and Christopher Gatson. Mary also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will cherish her memory forever.

Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who loved spending time with her family and welcoming others into her home. She took pride in preparing home-cooked meals and sharing laughter and stories with those she loved.

A woman of strong Christian faith, Mary was deeply committed to spreading the Word of God and living as a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. Her knowledge of the Bible and her dedication to helping others were defining aspects of her life.

Mary’s compassion for others, her service to her community, and her unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her memory will remain a blessing and her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
