Ollie Chambers

Ollie Jean Chambers "Baby" was born July 27, 1928 to the late Reverend Lester Stephens and Allie Neal Stephens in Perry County, Uniontown, Alabama.

She passed away peacefully at Lutheran Life Villages on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at the age 91.  

She confessed Christ at the early age of seven. After moving to Fort Wayne, Indiana, she joined Progressive Baptist Church in 1962 under the leadership of the late Bishop Jesse  White.  She transitioned under the current leadership of Pastor Robert Bell at True Love Baptist Church.  She served as a Missionary, on the Pastor’s Aide Committee, and with the Children’s Ministry.

She retired from Fort Wayne State Developmental Center after 25 years of service.  

Ollie was united in holy matrimony for 51 years to the late Arthur Chambers Sr. 

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Sarah Williams and Joyce Diane (Jerry) Williams and one daughter in-law, Martha Chambers, all of Fort Wayne; two step-daughters, Carolyn (Willie) Williams of Birmingham, AL, and Rebecca Wilson of Uniontown, AL, special niece, Juanita Williams and special nephew Henry Chambers III, 19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 23 great-great and 2 great-great-great grandchildren, two sisters, Deana Banks of Dayton, OH and Matilda M. Williams of Chicago, IL, and a host of nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Chambers Sr.; her parents, Lester Stephens and Allie Neal Stephens; her children, Bernice and Arthur Chambers Jr.; a stepson, John Miles; her sisters, Mattie Akins, Armelia (Toni) Wesley, Ella Lapsley, Lear Kate Christian, Ida Stephens and her brothers, Samuel (Sam) Stephens, Mathew Stephens, John Lester Stephens, and Alfred Stephens.
