Rubin Brown Obituary

Rubin (Bay) Lee Brown was born on February 19, 1949 in Mount Willings, Alabama to the late Willie Albert Giddens and Helen Jean Brown.  He passed away at the age of 72 on Tuesday, August 24, 2021.

He grew up in Biloxi, Mississippi and later moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana in September of 1964.

He graduated from Central High School in 1969 and went on to attend college at Vincennes University and graduated in 1971.  He later transferred to Michigan State University where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Sociology in 1973.

He was employed at NAPA Auto Parts where he retired in 2005 after 30 years of service. During his time at NAPA, Rubin consistently led sales in his department and won salesmen of the year many times.

Rubin, an eagle scout,  loved all things dealing with history and was the genealogist of the family. He served on the board of the Fort Wayne African American Historical Society and Museum and was a docent. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and member of St. Mary’s Lodge #14. He was a quintessential people person and could talk to anyone he met. He had a way of bringing people together and always sought to connect those around him to history and their ancestry.

Rubin leaves behind to cherish his loving memories, his wife, Sharon Brown; his daughters, Rhashida and Maiysha Brown; his grandchildren, Jayle, Dharma, Maya and Mekkah; his sisters, Mary Brown of Fort Wayne, IN, Virginia Perdue of Montgomery, AL and Margaret Lynn (LeRoy) Graves of Fresno, CA; his brothers, Theodore (Kasandra) Brundridge of Birmingham, AL, Willie James Giddens of Birmingham, AL and Shawn (Karla) Giddens of Birmingham, AL, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family members including his birthday twin- Beatrice Bradley.
