Ruth Jordan Obituary


Ruth L Jordan, age 88, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away peacefully Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Parkview Hospital Randallia.


Born on July 24,1932 in Mound Bayou, Mississippi to Stiner and Allene Bennett Lee, she was the youngest of seven children.


Ruth graduated high school at the early age of 14, and later moved to Chicago, IL where she met and married her H. Smith and to that union there was a son, Harold Smith.
Later, Ruth migrated to Fort Wayne, IN, in 1955 and met Fred Williams and to that union a son, Michael Smith and daughter, Caron Denyse Williams.

 

Ruth was employed by Fort Wayne State Developmental Center for 25 years until their closure. She then worked a few years with Allen County Council on Aging.


Ruth enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren, traveling, playing cards with her friends and family, gardening and shopping the most. 

She leaves to cherish her memories two children: Michael Smith (Edith) of Salinas, CA and Caron Denyse Williams of Fort Wayne, IN, grandchildren: Demetrius Clark, Kenesha Williams, Kirsten Underwood, all of Fort Wayne, Travis Smith, Michael Smith of Salinas, CA and twelve great grandchildren; special  friends: Frances Smothers, Mattie Hyde, Mattie Morton, Katherine Wilson, Alice Snead, Andrew Shade  and Michael Underwood, and a host of family and friends.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Jordan, son, Harold Smith, her parents and siblings, Julia,  Geneva, Savola, Marjorie, Stiner Jr, and BJ.


Due to health concerns, there will be no services, the family will have a private Memorial.
