SALLY MAE’S LIFE

Sally Mae Holmes was born on June 9, 1952, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Fred Holmes Sr. and Mary Virginia Eldridge. Sally was the middle child of eleven children.

Sally accepted Christ at an early age. Later in life, she attended and was baptized at New Joshua Church.

Sally attended Central High School in Fort Wayne. She was a loving mother who loved spending time with her family, cooking and dancing. Sally also enjoyed dressing up and having fun. Her greatest joy was found when she became a grandmother. Spending time with her grandkids meant everything to her. She also enjoyed watching her favorite game shows, Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune.

On April 19, 2025, Sally Mae Holmes passed away at the blessed age of 72 years, ten months and ten days. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Virginia Eldridge and father, Fred Holmes Sr, son Terrence R. Holmes, sister Willamena Lawton and brothers Charlie Lawton, Willie James Lawton and Fred Holmes Jr.

She is survived by her two sons, Frederick R. Holmes and Soloan T. Holmes, and a beloved special daughter, Yolanda Holmes (Sherice); a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elizabeth Holmes, Rose Eldridge and Yvonne (James) Bolton; three brothers, Clyde Holmes, Lloyd Holmes and Nolan Holmes; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and close friends.
